Boosting Productivity in Remote Teams

Boosting Productivity in Remote Teams

Streamlining your remote teams' working process is vital to make sure that you are not only all kept up to date but your clients aren't negatively affected by the change in routine.

Remote working in itself boosts productivity amongst employees. With many people repaying the trust afforded to them to work from their home location or a mother's place of work outside the office, you will find that your company is better off for adapting to remote working.

However, crossed wires, missing projects and bad comms can all play a part in upsetting the balance that plays a part in harmonious remote teams.

So what you can do to boost productivity and make sure everyone is kept up to date in real-time?

Communication

Communication is key. WE all know this. But how do you get people who are scattered over the country to be kept in the loop at all times? You need to integrate productivity apps into your toolbox. Let's be honest, 3 way texting never benefited anyone. Zoom meetings, Slack, Evernote and more can all help you get your tea onboard and at the same point with little hassle. Microsoft teams can effectively help you to delegate tasks and keep everyone in the loop even when your poop spans all 50 states.

Be clear and concise in all written and oral communications. Even one employee in the dark over any task no matter how small can have detrimental impacts on your productivity. So keep everyone on the same page and to speed by being open and clear in what is going on and what it is you expect from them in their working day.

Set goals

Much as you would in the office setting, you need to make sure your team is hitting their targets in a timely manner. Motivate them by giving them set goals in appropriate timeframes. Working from home means people will be online and working outside office hours as they deal with interruptions.

Be as specific as possible while still allowing for anomalies in schedules due to various reasons. Allocate work based on who is the most likely to get it done when you need it and use your team's work schedules to your benefit as you allow them to cultivate their own office hours as they work remotely.

Prioritize health

A healthy team is a happy team. As cliche as that sounds, it is also true. Placing the wellbeing of your team above everything else means you will not only gain their respect but also benefit from increased productivity as they will no longer be forced to work when feeling ill. Make the effort to get them the tools and equipment they need to do the job and allow them to take care of their health needs without worrying about work.

Fewer sick days means you get more bang for your buck when it comes employees performance and studies have shown that employees who feel they are respected and looked after in the workplace repay this courtesy by putting in more hours and extra effort.
